In Wikipedia i saw that socket P (Which i have in my laptop) support dual core and core 2 duo and core 2 quad

is this sure if it support dual core (which i have) i can upgrade to core 2 duo or core 2 quad

if the matter is a part of my laptop specs that is my specs

actually you can upgrade the processor, it takes socket P, big thing is get one with the same thermal specs (35w or less). the quads are too high thermal for it.

Why do you want to upgrade it? What are you trying to improve performance in?

Why not buy a new one? current laptops are more energy efficient and better performing than previous gen.

t4500 and DDR3 is probably using the GL40 chipset, the max CPU for that is the t9500 since it can only run with FSB 800...

it's an upgrade, but both are based on the same architecture, the clock difference is just 300Mhz, all the extra l2 cache is going to help, but not always... on such laptop you are probably more limited by the slow HD and slow IGP than CPU, and it's not like the max CPU supported (t9500) is a huge upgrade in CPU performance anyway...

also the t9500 is being sold for a lot more than it should be (based on performance) on ebay, because it's the fastest fsb 800 CPU... the t8300 is probably the best option for GL40 considering the price... but it's only 3MB of l2 and 2.4Ghz
