help with msn messenger

i would like to get msn messenger off my computer
but i am not sure what it actually does
i use outlook express to read my emails and i never chat or web cam or any of that stuff
i just email plain ordinary emails
can i get this trillion program use it and then delete msn messenger ?
 
goto start, run, type: gpedit.msc

then goto computer configuration, administrative templates, windows components, windows messenger and youll see "do not allow messenger to be run, double click it and enable it and it wont start up anymore.

i hate that program too

will i still be able to get my email if i delete msn messenger
or do i have to replace messenger with zillion to be able to get email
