I just put together a Ghz TB system on a K7TPro2A running Win98SE and am trying to connect it to my cable modem using a Netgear nic. First I tried an FA310TX, but it kept giving me errors when I started windows stating that "your FA310TX is not functioning correctly". Then I tried using an FA311 I had around. It seemed to install fine, but I couldn't connect to my Cox@Home correctly. I spent an hour with a tech from cox to no avail. I tried using the 311 in my old pc (the one I'm using now), and I could connect to the internet fine - so I know it's not the nic. I tried installing the VIA4in1, but that didn't help either. Can somebody help me out so I don't feel like an idiot for spending $1500 putting together the perfect system only to have it fart in my face? I called Netgear only to be put on hold for 30+ mins... same goes for VIA. Anandtech is my last hope. I love this forum already, but I'd be grateful to no end if someone could fix this for me. I've already spend at least 10 hours dicking around trying to solve it. Thanks for taking the time to read this (and hopefully help me out).

Boot into safe mode, and remove all of the Netgear remnants under the device manager, if there are any. Then boot back into 98se normally and reinstall the card. You might also try swapping PCI cards around.

I'm no expert but... you might want to try resetting the BIOS defaults for PNP/PCI. I spent literally weeks (on and off) trying to get a va-503+ and nic to work with no luck until I did this. Just a thought.
