Help with MSI file

I'm running Active Directory with group policies implemented for various security related issues. However, I would like to begin using GPO's for installing applications, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader. Has anyone done this before? Since Adobe doesn't offer Reader as an MSI file, I would have to create my own. The only information I can find at Microsoft is to setup a "clean" pc, take a snapshot of it, then install the application and take another snapshot. (MS White Paper) Since I have countless different pc's on my network (different NICs, video cards, etc) how would this affect implementing MSI files? Would I need to create an MSI for each set of hardware?

Maybe I'm way off base here and it's easier than I'm making it.

Thanks in advance.
