I'm trying to make a for sale sign flyer where there's tabs at the bottom with my contact info so people can tear them off, but i can't figure out how to type horizontally vertically. if that makes sense to you. if you know how to do this please let me know. thanks

You could put a one-row table at the bottom of the flyer with however many columns you need (the number of tabs). Then (in Word 2003, at least) select the cells and go to Format --> Text Direction. Set the direction whichever way you want and then type your information. Copy and paste to other cells.

adam ... you can do that with "Insert", "Text Box" .. you can turn the text box
to Vertical with no trouble .. just grab the edge and move it .. text moves with it
