Help With Motherboard Decision

Hey all...

I'm getting ready to bite the bullet on a new Winchester A64 3200+.

I'm interested in overclocking, so that is a concern.

I'm trying to decide on the MB to pair up with this chip, and I'm reading all kinds of mixed reviews.

I was all set on the MSI K8N Neo2, but I have an Antec TruePower 430. I have read of incompatibilities with that PSU.

I like the Epox 9NDA3+ as well considering the price, but there are a couple things that bug me about it. Specifically, the placement of the ATX connector on the board... What were they thinking... get a clue already.

So, my options are to get the Neo2 and a new PSU, or once again try to find a good way to route the ATX connector around whatever monster of a heatsink that I choose. (I have to do it now with a NF7-S).

Am I missing a better overclocking motherboard out there right now?

What should I do?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

And If I go with the first option...

What are the current PSU reccomendations?

Could you link to where you read that? I'd like to see how that determination was made.

in this thread theres several people who have no problem with that combination. The MSI boards can be turned on via lan, but to do this the board needs to be supplied with power even when off. Certain capacitors for the board involved in this hibernation state can be faulty, causing the whole board to not work.

Anyway here are several people saying that combination DOES work.

What I'd like to know is why anandtech recommends the MSI board even though alot of people seem to have trouble with it.

Unless someone can link to some solid evidence about a compatibility issue I will consider it FUD. I have a True430 powering a MSI Master2-FAR that has both 242s overclocked and the 6800GT beyond Ultra speed and no trouble doing it.

To use M4H's acronym, I believe the problem is PICNIC *problem in chair, not in computer* as usual. The above testimonial should illustrate why I ain't buying there is some hardware related issue between that board and a True430.

EDIT: I should add this is the newer 430 with SATA.

I guess I will go ahead and get the Neo2 then. If worse comes to worse, I will just have to get a new PSU too.
