This is my first PC build and am needing suggestions on motherboard and ram selections. I will be using it primarily for gaming and some home video editing and unfortunately school work. I dont plan on overclocking or running a RAID setup, but would like the best bang for the buck. I would like to have firewire and NIC integrated. As far as parts go I have a P4 2.4b, Maxtor 80gig 7200, cendyne cdrw, Antec 1080AMG w/430w psu, and looking at probably a TI 4200 as far as graphics go. This is driving me nuts trying to find one to use. Thanks in advance for suggestions and insight.

I was just about to say I think AMD is the only one with Firewire on-board, BUT I think I just found you rnext board...

The VIA P4PB. It has on-board 6ch sound, AGP 8x, LAN, USB 2.0, smartcard reader, and of course Firewire. PIC

Newegg.co has it HERE for ONLY $125 Shipped

Here is the factroy LINK

But it has everthing you want, and its only $125 shipped from newegg.com

As for Ram get some good name brand DDR333 ram (PC2700) Crucial is good, but cost a little more, but you get what you pay for.

I agree. I have looked at the board before but missed the Firewire and smartcard reader. And it has a 3 year warrenty also, or was it 5 years? But VIA seems to be standing behind its products.

But good luck and when you get it setup and running, if this is the board you get, then come back and give a review of it for other people. i.e. list the Pro's and Cons.
