Help with Moonlighting mission in Mafia

Im trying to beat the moonlighting mission in Mafia, but I must be missing something. I go upstairs and get the keys and go to the basement and try to open the safe, but when i right click to open the bar door, it makes a noise like it's locked even tho I have the keys. Whats up? Any ideas?

I had the same prob, those keys from upstairs are to the safe and the keys on the wall next to the talking cashier go to those bars.

this game any good?

Not to hijack the thread, but any tips on the race level in Fair Play? I love this game, but the driving portions of the game are just kicking my buttocks.

Use a gamepad or steering wheel. You'll be surprised how easy the race becomes then. With a gamepad, I won the race by almost 40 seconds, and lapped the last place car.
 
In the mission 'Moonlighting', I tried everything to get Paulie out of his apartment. Anyone knows where's the catch? 😱
