Help with Monitor

I have a Dell S2340L. There are no USB ports on the monitor. If I hook up a webcam to the main desktop tower, will it work on the monitor? There are a few other devices I have to hook up also. Will they work on the monitor?

You will need some sort of playback utility... something that will take the incoming video signal and know to display it on the monitor.

Yes, I understand that. You need some sort of utility to take the incoming video data stream and convert it or make it viewable on the monitor, otherwise the computer won't know what to do with the data. Your video camera may have a utility available to do just that... check the manufacturer's website. If it's a removeable card (like an SD card or something) you can probably just view it as a downloadable file.

The short answer is yes, it will work just fine.

Charlie98 is just pointing out that you will probably have to install a program to use the camera.

There's nothing special about the USB ports integrated into monitors. They just have a normal USB hub built into the chassis, which is then plugged into a USB port on the computer like any other hub.
