Help with Monitor

I have a dell with no operating system installed and while hooking up monitor the monitor wont show screen just goes into sleep mode.when you unhook the monitor the monitor comes on and says no signal. is there something i dont know.any help will be appreciated.

With the monitor attached to the computer, are you turning on the computer? If not, sleep mode is normal. If you are turning it on and you are getting nothing it may be a problem with the graphics adapter in the computer, possibly the monitor, but probably not. Just to make sure, do you have another computer you can hook the monitor up to check?

If you aren't turning the PC on, try that too. You should at least see the computer POST and you can access the BIOS.

Yes i am turning the computer on.Yes i have had the monitor hooked up to another computer.So what your saying is the graphics card is craped out?
