Im just getting into these... Ive decided that i dont have the room for my old samsung monitor any more.. its way too big and takes up way too much desk space (and its gonna be even more problematic when i go away to university next fall). My question is this.. what am i looking for? ive been searching through some internet articles and found people saying certain things were bad.. but not what was a "good" measurement for that... such as contrast ratio, pixel refresh rate, etc... I use my computer for gaming aswell.. so the monitor needs to be 17+" and needs to be suitable for gaming... anyone enlighten me on what i need to look for when im purchasing a LCD monitor for gaming (games such as Unreal Tournament, Jedi Knight, Everquest).

brightness greater than 350
pixel resopnse combined 25 ms or less
contrast 400 or better

these are a good start for gaming
