Help with lawnmower engine

Ours has a fuel shut off switch located near the deck...did you check for one, and if it is there, is it in the "flow" position? Sounds dumb, but you never know...
**EDIT: Looks like it could be the gray thing just above the priming button?? hard to tell.

Maybe drop some carb cleaner in the carb...probably a good idea to do anyway, and there may have been just enough fuel in it to turn into varnish in the carb jet when it was sitting.

The grey thing is the throttle adjustment, at least it should be, it's a Tecumseh engine. What you may need to do is take off the pull start/top cover and remove the coil to clean the areas where it contacts the engine block and where the magneto passes it. Also, clean the magneto (use sandpaper) where it passes the coil while spinning. Second the carb cleaner, it's entirely possible that just enough fuel was left in the system to cause problems. Also check the carb float bowl. It it's anything like mine, if the speednut is tightened too much it won't start. The speednut is underneath the bowl (big silver thing under the primer button), 9/16 nut, tighten/loosen it to the point where fuel runs out of the bowl and then tighten it back up enough to stop it.

By clean, I mean sand off any rust. Mine had a similar issue and after removing the rust from the coil/grounding points/magneto it stars like it's new.
