I have a computer running windows 10

I would like to install a seperate nic card, hook up a poe switch to said card, hook up cameras to said switch.

Then run blue iris to run the system, hooked up to my existing network from the nic on the mobo.

Is this doable?

do i need a managed switch ? ( I currently have an unmanaged)

Am I going about this the wrong way?

should i add the cameras to the network a different way?

Any tips or links would be a great help.

(I set up a camera network a few years back but its kinda been forgotten)

No need to install a separate NIC on the motherboard. Just hook up your POE IP camera to your POE switch and uplink to your existing switch.

You don't need a managed switch.

I'm trying to go through the same thing....and I'm a networking rookie at best. I purchased a Cisco SG200-50 to handle the homes networking needs, and to give the POE availability to connect cameras. Thinking I could set up 2 VLans one for the home network traffic , and one for the surveillance traffic....however I've found that the Cisco switch is beyond my current understanding of networking. It sounds like you are going about it the right way. out of curiosity, what cameras are you running?
