When I download a torrent, even when its going a tenth of my max download speed, everything seems to go slowly. Why does that happen? I would imagine that it should only start slowing down when I reach my limit...

Using which torrent client?

Most likely a port isn't forwarded correctly, and your client is not connectable.

My download speeds are fine. I can download just fine when the seeders are doing good. I'm not complaining. What I am complaining about on the other hand is how everything else seems to be affected. My browser takes longer to load pages, even though I'm downloading at only 30-40kbps. My setting all seem to be configured properly under my firewall and router. I dont know what else it can be. I looked under that link you gave and investigated, but to no avail. Thanks anyhow :)

Your upload is likely effecting your overall speed. That actually is quite common.

Limit your total upload to 80% of your maximum upload throughput.
