Help with internet speed.... and torrents

When I download a torrent, even when its going a tenth of my max download speed, everything seems to go slowly. Why does that happen? I would imagine that it should only start slowing down when I reach my limit...

Using which torrent client?

Most likely a port isn't forwarded correctly, and your client is not connectable.

My download speeds are fine. I can download just fine when the seeders are doing good. I'm not complaining. What I am complaining about on the other hand is how everything else seems to be affected. My browser takes longer to load pages, even though I'm downloading at only 30-40kbps. My setting all seem to be configured properly under my firewall and router. I dont know what else it can be. I looked under that link you gave and investigated, but to no avail. Thanks anyhow

Your upload is likely effecting your overall speed. That actually is quite common.

Limit your total upload to 80% of your maximum upload throughput.
