I have a bit of a problem.

I want to install a new wireless router on my work in order to connect some laptops to a local area network and as well giving them internet.

So, I bought a Netgeart Wireless Router. THe composition of the network looks liek this.

Domain server with one backup server and around 10 PC's connected to a switch. The internet comes from a wireless antenna that is connected to an Access Point that is also connected to a switch.

The Subnet Mask for the whole network is in 192.168.50.x. The server is on 192.168.50.5 the backup is on .1 and the router that has the antenna connected to it is .4.

The old wireless router that I need to replace was connected to a switch. So, that router gave off the signal to local laptops and was connected them to a domain server through it. Since both the Access Point and the wireless router are locked with some credetianls that I'm unable to get, I have no idea how to set my WAN and LAN settings on my new wireless router.

I tried giving LAN option the 192.168.1.1 and the WAN 192.168.50.6. The internet seems to work fine. I even ping my domain with 192.168.50.5 but I can't access it, like the shared folders and etc. I'm having problems setting this up.

Anyone can help?

Set up the new router as an access point, not as a router. Connect a computer to the new Netgear while the Netgear is _not_ connected to the existing network. Log in to the router's configuration page and disable the DHCP server on the router. Then connect one of the LAN ports on the Netgear to an existing port on the wired network. This will allow wireless clients on the Netgear to access all available resources on the existing wireless network.

SO by disabling the DHCP on the router I set him as an access point?

Currently I have the cable connected to WAN (cable goes from switch to it). So I should move the cable to LAN set the IP to 192.168.50.6 (for example) and turn the DHCP off?

Just to make things clear.

THanks for your help.

Edit: in that case what IP should I set to the WAN? (although the wan cable is not connected)

Correct. You don't set the WAN IP on the Netgear to anything at all. Just leave it at the default of DHCP/Automatic and the router will simply not try to use the WAN port since it is not connected to anything.
