I'm putting together a server for my boss (he wants fast but cheap of course). I;m using the new dual AMD's on a Tyan Thuder K7. I'm using 2 IBM 60GXP on a Promise Fastrack TX2 in RAID 1. Does using a RAID controller disable the onboard IDE? I'm trying to figure out if I should set up a CD-RW on the onboard IDE or on the onboard SCSI.

CD-RW you ask: boss wants daily backups, but doesn't want the cost of a tape drive.

assuming you want to boot off the raid controller the you need to change the boot order in bios so that scsi comes before ide as the raid controller is seen as a scsi device!
