im networking my computers through phone line networking and i was wondering why my dsl speed is slower now after i shared my internet connection....is this normal or can i get the same speed i was getting before i networked????

are both your machines going through your fone line? i have no experience with using fone lines for networking but i hear they are a little bit slower than using traditional cat 5. have you tried pinging from one machine to the other? how does it ping? what about trying to hook up one machine directly to the dsl modem and one going through the fone network and ping a external address like anandatech.com. if one is significantly higher than the other then you may be able to narrow it down to the fone line not being that great. good luck.

DSL (unlike Cable), you buy a speed package.

When few computers are surfing their combine max speed will be your assigned max.

Phone lines are a lot slower then cat 5. I think you can get 1.5 mbps with Phone lines compared to cat5. 100mbps. The dsl line is going to be slower if both computers are accessing data at the same time and also depends on your dsl.

Phone lines are slower than Cat 5 cables and if you are sharing your internet connection with another computer using a phone line, then the connection speed will of course be split and shared between your 2 computers.
