Tell me what you think are the best and worst Presidents in the 1900's (Post Mickinley, pre G. "Dubya" Bush) based on their accomplishments as President. It would also be nice if you tell me why you think they are the best or worst.

Thanks

It's not like I'm asking you guys write my paper, I just need ideas to get me started.

What are your political views? IMO the worst presidents are LBJ and FDR because of their fiscal policies. If you ask a socialist you'll get quite a different answer. (doubt they like Reagan too much)

I'm using both, asking here just gives me more ideas of Presidents to consider.

Herbert Hoover

*Did nothing to help people during the depression
*Believed that people should help themselves - Rugged individualism
*Slums were dubbed "Hooverviles"
*Widely hated

Greatest: Ronald Wilson Reagan
Worst: Franklin Roosevelt

seconded!

Regan because he brought down the Soviet Union and instituted smart economic policies that lead to the prosperity in the 90's.

FDR because he started the US down the slippery slope of socialism.

Worsts : Ford, Hoover, Carter, Reagan, Maybe LBJ

Bests: Wilson, FDR, Teddy Rosevelt, and you could probably make a case for Nixon if you ignored Watergate completely

for nixon, you'd also have to ignore that whole vietnam thing...you know, insignificant

wilson didn't do crap besides preach his 'self determination' ideology which he hardly ever followed through on (just look at the results of the Versailles Treaty OR the fact that the US still held what amounted to colonies under his administration)

Hmm, Nixon was possibly the best and the worst in my view.

He was respected in foreign relations. Opened up relations with China after decades of being shut out, for one thing. Bleh, I'm too tired to pursue this...

You need to be careful, because this could just turn into a partisan issue, so I'll pick one from both sides. Carter really set the ball in motion for the current terrorism threats that we face today and Reagan managed to spend more money than all previous presidents combined. Nixon really wasn't that bad, the Watergate scandal is piddly bs compared to stuff other Presidents have pulled.
