Help with Home Theater Setup

I have a problem. I have been tasked with helping my sister with the HT setup.

Their room is 18x15, with the tv in the corner. I am enclosing pictures.

The TV is in the corner. The house is prewired. There is a drop on either side of the love seat by the tv. There is another drop on the other side by the sofa.

I know we cannot possibly get a nice sound stage, but I am trying to figure out what best setup can be done without moving the tv.

We need a new TV stand cause the old one wont hold stuff. We need speakers and amp and subs.

Any suggestions on where to place this stuff

no help???

I was thinking of the Onkyo 608 AMP + speakers, but the placements are goign to be whack. LCR near the tv, the other two on the farthest part of the couches from the tv..

what do you think?

I'd really look at a few other threads. The last week or so there have been 3 or 4 of these types of threads. i'd browse over them and at least give suggestions on price ranges and general thoughts of what you want.

TBH unless your sister wants to rearrange the placement of that room id suggest a soundbar

there really isn't enough room to put towers or bookshelfs next to the TV. + rear placement is gonna be near impossible with the room at an angle

the 608 is a good AVR

Put the TV where the big couch is now. Move the big sofa against the window where the loveseat is now, and move the loveseat so it's oriented 90 degrees to the big sofa, facing toward the fireplace. You do that, and HT speaker placement becomes very easy. If they don't want to make that big of a change, well I would question their reasons for wanting a HT system at all, or for having one in that particular room. See what they want out of it (louder sound? "better" sound? do they watch a lot of movies? sports? TV? video games?) and see if that can help you narrow the requirements a bit. "Home theater" can mean a lot of things, and in the end it is what you make of it.

TV above the mantle works as well, but might not meet the aesthetic needs of your sister.

Yeah, unfortunately, I have to agree with what others have said. There is very little you can do with a TV in the corner like that in terms of surround sound. You need to either put the TV where the picture is on the mantle, or where that one sofa/couch is in front of those drapes/window.

Otherwise all you will be doing is fighting the delay distances between the seating area and the speakers, and you will have all kinds of room nulls.
