okay, guys, i'm new at this and i need some help

i have 2 computers in my house, one in the basement, one in the den upstairs. i just got a cable modem connection hooked up today on the one in the basement. last week, i ordered two diamond homefree phoneline networking adapters, hoping to share the cable connection.

the computer in the basement is running XP, whereas the computer in the den is running 98. the software that came with the pna adapters will only allow internet sharing if both computers are running 9x. i'm not sure where to go now. any help?!??!

Since Phone line, networks are much less popular then Ethernet, it is not easy to find answers.

You can try here:

Alternative Networking - Phoneline.

And here:

2wire.com

BTW: If the solution that you find is costing you more then $200, it will probably cost the same as converting your system to a combo Wired, and Wireless Ethernet.
