Help with hard drive

I have the Gigibyte 8irxp and 2 IBM hard drive ,40GXP and 60GXP ATA 100 hard drives. One is set as the master and the other is set as the slave on the promise raid controller. In the cmos I have the raid set as SCSI. I also have the lastest Bios F6. The promise controller sees the 60GXP but windows XP dosn't. If I hook up the 60GXP to the primary IDE controller then windows will see it. Anyone got any ideas.

Why not keep it hooked up to the regular IDE controller if you're not using RAID?

You won't get any help from Gigabytes' tech support. That was one of the reasons I got rid of my 8-IRXP back in Feb.

Have you messed with the jumper settings. This my sound really strange but I have one board that has a promise controller that I have to set the hard drives to cable select. Makes no sense to me but that is life sometimes 🙂

digging up old posts but when you setup an IDE raid (striped raid does it in win2k) through a promise controller it only passes along config/info about one of the drives in the setup to windows.
