I'm very much gettong one of these things, but I have a slight problem.
On the game side, I haven't got the slightest clue what's good/what to get.

I'm thinking, from stuff I've seen/heard:
Metroid Prime
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
F-Zero game (when released)
Tony Hawks 4 (played #2 on PS, quite liked it even though I wasn't that good since I only played it at friends)

I want some good racing titles, RPG games, and really fun games.
Not sport, fps (not so good on consoles IMO), strategy.

Can anyone tell me some special games?

"Metroid Prime
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker"

These are the two best games for the GC, and IMO the two best console games I have ever played.
Mario Sunshine is also good.
And if you like Multiplayer party games then Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 and Mario Party 4 are really good.
Also, for strategy, Pikmin and Eternal Darkness.

Many good games to go with.

Zelda, first and foremost. A masterpiece with few (if any) peers.
I'll stick my neck out and call it game of the year.

After that, Metroid.

Racing games-

Nascar Thunder 2003 is very good.
Nascar, Dirt to Daytona is rated very high but I haven't played it.
Burnout 2 is brand new and is rated very high, again I don't have personal experience, yet.

fun games- all those already mentioned plus-
Pikmin - cool, different, strategy game.
Animal Crossing - amazing game, worth the Gamecube by itself, if you are into it. It is a different game experience from almost any other game so you might want to borrow it or rent it first.

edit- forgot to mention Summoner, an RPG, which got fairly good reviews but some people I've talked to in forums like it a lot. Same thing with Baldur's Gate-Dark Alliance.

Zelda OWNS j00h.

The Resident Evil series alone was reason enough for me to buy a GC. The remake of RE1 is amazing. I love it. Can't wait for new games in the series.

Try a different store. In most stores around here, they offer free Metroid with a new GC system. Then grab a copy of Zelda and you're set. :)

get wave race. i personally didn't like ED, it was really slow paced, and there is no variation in the enemies.

and forget pikmin and luigi, those are rentals at best. i beat them each in 2 days

I'm in the UK, and there's a deal for £50 off the usual price, but it limits you to those games, with the £50 I save I'd be able to buy about 2 more games, so I don't have a choice of shopping around for different game deals.
