Help with FTP.

How can I test my speeds via FTP? I would be logging into my home pc from a pc at another location. Can I see the speed while downloading something from Internet Explorer or do I need another program to see the speed?

If you type in the URL of the file, MSIE should give you the speed. If you log into the FTP via MSIE and drag the file to your desktop, it will show a regular file copy window.

It only shows the estimated time left. I want it to show the MB copied vs. the total MB as well as the transfer speed.

thats IE's default http download, it becomes really dumb when it pretends to be a ftp client.

its generally better to have a web browser on the web, and an ftp client on ftp for more control and options (some do permissions and other stuff, so if you have a website you can change stuff through it)
