Help with freezing pc

My pc's been freezing up on me lately and i'm not sure what's going on. I haven't changed anything in Bio's or anything, just running it safe for few more days then overclock it.

But ever since i installed another monitor onto this pc, my screen's been freezing. I'm running dual monitor now. But anyways, i would have to restart the pc by pressing the big power button for 5sec etc...

It took longer then usual to load as well...I kept on hearing this "clicking" noise while the pc was loading. Sounded like...a power problem?...i'm not sure. Currently i raised the Ram voltage power up to 2.8v's not sure if that's going to help any but i hope it was "lack" of power...or whatever...but seems to me that the pc's running low on something.

I did actually reinstall my Heatsink last week. But it was running perfectly until i installed the monitor and stuff started happening. Plz help ...anyone had this kind of problems before?...

clicking noise on startup...longer then usual loads?...

Clicking noise and long startups - I am betting your hard drive is about to take a dump. Do a complete backup NOW and then get a new HDD.

doesnt seem to be a sound comin from the harddrive...

i just rebooted...and it loaded windows and everything else fine...

hmmm

Well, the clicking sound (I am going strictly by how you described it) can only be caused by something with moving parts. Which narrows is down to either your HDD or optical drives. Random freezes can also be a sign of PSU failing. If your CPU was to over heat, yours system would not freeze, it would shutdown.

To get dual monitors, did you install a seperate vid card, or was your existing card dual monitor capable? If you did install a second card, try moving it to a different slot. The behavior you described could be a card slot conflict that will clear up when the card is moved.

no, my current radeon 9700 is dual monitor capitble.

i'm not sure that its the HD...

because, i'm not sure if you get this sound or not when you reboot.

but this is what happens...

when you dont get enough power powering the pc, it reboots itself every sec right?...

and it makes a clicking noise tryin to reboot it self...i'm thinking that the "glue" or "gel" that i put on the CPU hasn't melt completely YET. So im guessing that's causing all my problems?..Because right now i cant seem to overclock my pc just Yet.

what glue or gel are you talking about? If you're talking about the thermal paste... it should already be in a paste form, so it shouldn't need to melt... and you should only put a VERY thin layer on it. But even if that's the problem, it wouldn't be a clicking noise. The only clicking noises i've ever heard coming from a computer has been the harddrive.

ok, so i came home from work tonite and the monitor was hibernating. By moving the mouse it should come back from hibernating. But instead, nothing happens...

rebooted the pc by pressing the big ol' button.

waited...

loaded the memory freq. etc...

and just stayed their...

i had to clear CMOS to get my pc to boot windows...

i still have no clue why my pc keeps freezing while im running dual monitor?..im not sure if thats even the cause of it. I screen lag during Counter strike now but even though i'm hitting 100FPS.

running on single since last night...

gonna see if it freezes today after i get out of work..

but playing games such as counter strike is giving me screen lag not vid lag.

i'm still able to hit 100fps ...but just not constant now...
