Help with first build computer

OK, I did that and went back into BIOS and changed the first, second, and thirs boot devices to hard disk. After I saved and it restarted, it is still coming up with "Boot from CD: ".

Remember it will go to the original screen again. Do nothing and it wil continue loading. You just have to wait.

OK, it went thorugh it all and now it came back to the 'welcome to setup' screen. I can enter to continue, r to repair, or f3 to quit.

OK, I did that. Then right after restart a screen comes up showing my processor speed and then it detects IDE drives, then it gives a listing of PCI devices. After that it says "Verifying DMI Pool Data..........." the next line has "Boot From CD: " and then the next line just repeats that. It doesn't do anything else after that.

Oh, and all three of my boot devices in BIOS is on 'Hard drive'.

Do you have it set to boot off of Hard Drive 0?

It really doesn't say 'Hard drive 0'. Here are the options on the list:

Floppy
LS120
Hard Disk
CDROM
ZIP
USB-FDD
USB-ZIP
USB-HDD
Legacy LAN
U?50J
NVIDIA Boot Age
Disabled

Your boot order should be from first to last...

CDROM
Floppy
Hard Disk

Make sure that Raptor is set to the Master Primary Device in your BIOS (well, not too sure about SATA, but this is true for IDE HDDs)

EDIT: And make sure nothing is in your optical drives (CD/DVD/Burners) to be sure nothing is booting off of CD.

well, it seems like the mobo is not recognizing the raptor at all. it has a two places to detect secondary IDE drives, but it says nothing on there about any of the four SATA controllers.

Did you install the SATA drivers when installing Windows XP?

no, it never asked me to. it did ask if I wanted to install RAID drivers, F6, do I have to install drivers for SATA also?

OK, lesson learned. I have made my driver floopy. I'll update after the installation.

If the mobo is not recognizing the drive in the bios or at POST, drivers aren't going to help. Check the mobo for options on enabling the SATA controller.

AHh I haven't read all the new developments whole heart'dly, but I'd suggest you take out all hdd's except the fatest that will hold the OS. Also, you know.. the OS should be on one drive, and one drive alone, and on on partition and one alone, you shouldnt be trying them all out, if you have format them all, and start fresh.

Thanks to everybody who helped last night. I had to setup my raid array before loading windows onto the HD. Everything is up and running now and it's GREAT!!
