Hi, I just put together a computer tonight with a K7V motherboard and an Athlon 800mHz CPU... when i plugged in the power cord, i got some intial power for like a second and then it stopped (it looked like it was booting but it didnt). So I hit the power button and everything started working... only problem was i got no beeps, nothing on the monitor (it stays in standby mode), and no sounds as if the system is booting...

everything i have is brand new, and i have:

K7V mobo
Athlon .18 800mhZ
128mb pc133 mushkin ram revision 1.5
plexwriter 8/4/32
30gb maxtor HDD
linksys NIC
samsung syncmaster 700nf
hercules geforce2 mx

any help would be greatly appreciated... i checked connections and reseated things like the memory and the agp card...but nothing is working... please help!!

make sure all your little colored wires are connected right on your mobo. ie none are backwards or in the wrong spot. They can be tricky. also make sure you video card is firmly in the agp slot.

This sounds annoying, but it solves 9 out of 10 problems with a new system. Reseat everything, unplug all power connections and reconnect (i've seen improperly modeled power connectors that take some 'workin'). Repeat.

I have tried reseating everything and to no avail, the samething occuring, which is nothing... could it be anything like a bad memory stick?? or *yuck* a bad cpu?? and i am pretty damn sure the power connector is in the right way...

Maybe check the power supply to see if the power selector switch is set to 230V instead of 115V like it should be. Seen this happen before and it produces similar problems like what you are experiencing. It shouldn't damage anything though.

If that doesn't help let me know. I also have a K7V with an Athlon 700 and GeForce card.

If you could get ahold of a second computer to test with it would make life A LOT easier. Pull each piece across to a machine that is known to work... obviouslly you might not have that luxary.

i actually do have the luxury of another computer, so i am about to pop the memory into this one... i am suspecting the memory cuz when i received it from mushkin, their little imfamous airbag was kinda flat and i thought that was strange (barely any air was in it)...anyways, would i get anything like a beep or startup screen if my memory was bad? i have to test the agp card on a computer at work though cuz this crappy old computer doesnt have an agp slot...ah well...
any more ideas, especially from k7v owners would be appreciated... this will get annoying really fast, but sinc ei have work anyways, its not too annoying yet...

Okay i checked the power supply and it is set for 115 volts like it should be...
I checked my pc133 memory on my old computer, however it needs pc100 memory to run, and i dont know if pc133 memory will work on a board that doesnt utilize pc133... at any rate i checked the pc100 on my k7v and still nothing but i did it really quick cuz i had to leave for work, so i still might be able to tinker with the memory...

The 133 should work in your other computer assuming there isn't an incompatiblity between the chipset on your old motherboard and memory you bought(MOAN).

lol i have no idea if that mushkin pc133 would even be compatible with my old mobo and chipset (its over 4 years old!!)...
i found on another messageboard that the VIO voltage is supposed to be a defualt of 3.4 ... i know i changed it to 3.30 cuz thats what the manual says is default... maybe thats a problem...

okay first boot update-----

i was shorting the mobo with some extra screws to hold it down... i can get it to post now... so my problem now is the monitor is in blinking green/amber standby mode, and my post gives me long beeps in a loop... manual says that means no DRAM installed or detected... does this mean my mushkin memory (which was sent in a deflated "airbag", barely any air was in it) is at fault??
