I'm having trouble with my home network. We have 3 computers, (XP home with SP2, XP pro with SP2, XP pro with SP1). All of them have simple file sharing enabled, all are in the same subnet, and all have File and Printer Sharing enabled. The built-in windows firewall is disabled on all 3 computers.

Everything seems to be set up properly however none of the computers are able to access shared folders on the 2 computers running SP2. All 3 computers can access the computer running SP1. I can ping all of the computers on the network from any other computer on the network. I haven't really been able to find any help for this specific problem and i've been searching forums for hours now and trying so many different things that i'm at a loss as to what the problem would be.

Any help is much appreciated!

Edit. As a side note, I have a modded xbox and it is able to access any shared folder on any computer using Xbox Media Centre. Not sure if that helps at all but more info is always useful right?

if u no the computer name like for example livingroom go to run and type in //livingroom in dell and it should work and to share folders just select the folder and go to properties and click the sharing tab and go to enable sharing. Thats how it should work.

I've already tried that and it didn't work. I got the same error message that occurs when you go to my network places. It's just says access denied.

As a security precaution SP2 disables the Guest account. In your instance, Simple File Sharing relies on the Guest account being enabled in order to function properly. Here is how to fix it. But first, make sure you are logged on as an account with administrator priveleges

Click: Start button -> Click: Run -> Type: "compmgmt.msc" -> Expand: Local Users and Groups -> Select: Users -> Right-click: Guest account -> Click: Properties -> Uncheck: Account is disabled -> Click: OK -> Click: OK

The XP pro computer with SP2 now works. I ran the network setup wizard again and suddenly everything works. However, none of the computers can access the XP home with SP2 comptuer still. I am completely out of ideas now.
