HELP WITH DVD PLAYBACK

I have never had a DVD player before and one came with my new computer. I have software on the computer that is supposed to make DVD's play. (PowerDVD) The problem is that my DVD playback color is washed out, like it is in a low color mode. I have a 6800 GT video card and an Athlon 64 3200 with 1 gig of ram.....Is there something simple I am missing?

Seen this post before and a few said update drivers its a known issue.
Some adjust the color in the display properties settings.

Have you tried using the other PowerDVD color profiles (Vivid, Theatre, etc.)? I've found the default looks pretty washed out and the Vivid profile or customizing your own looks MUCH better.

can u recommend which version to install, and can this also be the issue that I am having with some random game lockups and reboots as well (my computer tells me there is a likely graphics driver problem)
