Help with DVD decoder and SB live!

I recently installed Windows XP Pro on my machine, which has a Creative DVD Encore DXR3 Decoder Card, an 8X DVD Drive(also Creative), and a SoundBlaster Live! X-Gamer.

I have installed the latest drivers for both the sb live and the dxr3 decoder. The DVD software seems to work well, but I cannot hear any audio coming from the rear channels(I have a 4.1 setup btw, Boston Acoustics BA4800). I know that in 98se, my previous setup, under the audio options for the program there was a box for surround sound through the sound blaster live, which did a nice job of using all my speakers when playing back DVD's. However, the sound options are different under XP, although there is a surround box, which I have checked, I cannot hear it mixing the sounds between all 4 speakers. The other sound options I believe allow for sound to pass through the jacks on the back of the decoder, but I dont have anything to receive those signals, I only use my computer speakers.

I know that my 4 speakers work correctly for games and such...I have the option set in the SB live software, and I hear it in games and such.

So my question is, does anyone have a similar setup and gotten this to work? Am I missing something, or is this functionality simply not there in XP(which would suck, but seeing that creative is releasing only beta drivers anyways for XP for the decoder cards, I guess it wouldn't surprise me). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know that there are good software solutions as well, but I do enjoy the output from the dxr3 card as well...but if someone knows something that is free and works well, please let me know...although I'm really not willing to pay anything for DVD software. But I really, really want to get this to work, and I think logically it should be able to, given that in 98se it works beautifully.

Thanks.

is this from the windows update site or from the soundblaster site?
you'll need to set to 4.1 speaker in the mixer.

Is the DVD software set to output 4.1 sound (In the DVD software, not the mixer)? Are you playing a dolby digital 5.1 sound track on your DVD?

I've got the same decoder card with an SBLive 1024 player sound card, and I dont get any audio from the rear channels either. I use the drivers for the chipset rather than the creative drivers and it doesnt make any difference. Instead, as i already dual boot with W98SE, I use InterVideo WinDVD and get sound from the rear channels, which is a shame, as you say, because it would be nice to use the DXR3 card and not have to resort to software playback.
