Help with Dual_modem (multilink PPP)

Hi

i need some advise here pls...lemme ask the vital question first - does reliance rconnect support the 'multilink PPP' protocol?

i have been tryin to use two dial_up modems at the same time to double the available bandwidth...

i was googling on it and it seems quite possible- the technq goes by different names - 'bandwidth aggregation'...'shotgun'... microsoft calls it multilink PPP and even has a help page (KB304879)...seems xp can handle this double_modem thing.

so, i followed the info gathered to set up two seperate modems first and then two seperate dial-up cnxns...[there was a check-box called 'negotiate multilink for single-links' in dial-up_properties>networking>settings which i checked(as advised)].

so far so good...both the cnxns connect perfectly alone, but whenever i dial the second cnxn, the first one goes idle 🙁 what am i doing wrong?

do i need some special permission or code or somethin like that from reliance to be able to use this ?

i noticed this too-might be crucial - in dial-up_properties>options the section 'Multiple devices' always remains unclickable/greyed_out...i guess this is part of the same problem.

pls guide me on this one...

thanx

edit: there's this software called midpoint which is made exactly for this purpose, but it needs static ip's to work with (rconnect is a 'dynamic ip' syatem and so i cant use it.)

You can only use multilink (bandwidth aggregation) if your ISP supports it and if they have specifically given your dial-up account permission to do it. You will have to contact Reliance directly to find out what they require in order to enable multilink on their system.

thanx bro... i just found out that prawin had already kinda 'forwarded' my querry in the forums ...

its sad to know i cant use multilinking... anyways, thank u...will try contacting reliance.

cheers

hi...this just occured to me - if i cant MERGE/aggregate two cnxns with multilink, can i atleast keep them both active (sorta parallel) at the same time ?

can i like, 'bind' certain programs (my p2p/downloads) to one ip and use the other ip only for browsin at the same time?

is something like this possible?
