help with dsl set up

Good evening everyone. I am setting up a new system and can't get the dsl to run. I am using win 98 on her right now on a soyo mobo.
KY7VEMPRO. with a Duron chip. I have windows loaded now and am trying to use the onboard lan. It is the Realtek lan 8139. Loaded the drivers for 98 and the device manager said it is working properly. I tried using the cmd and renewing the ipaddress, still not working.
Please help. Thanks in advance.
