Help with Dlink DFE-910

I had to reformat my hdd. I am having problems etting my network working again. The client is fine. It is the server that I cannot seem to setup properly.
The drivers for the card are ok. I singled ckicked on Network Neighborhood, right ckicked, properties, then highlighted tcp/ip to the DFE 530+, went to properties. I specified the proper IP address, disabled Wins conf, & left the gateway blank. Closing out & rebooting, double clicking on Network Neighborhood, , F% multiple times , only shows the server on the network. Pinging the client Times out.
What did I leave out?
Any suggestions as to how to get the network going again?
Thanks

Ummmm....

-> double check the ip number

-> check the net mask

-> check the hardware (cables, hub, etc., switch it all out with known good ones)

-> triple check the ip

You are pinging from a dos prompt right? If that doesn't work, it's probably a pretty low level failure.
