Help with ddr2 memory?

I came across a bunch of pc2-3200 ram, and none of it works in any of my ddr2 motherboards. Is there something I am missing? On my gigabyte board, there is an option to change speed (400/533/667/800). I put in my crucial ddr2-800, downclocked to ddr2-400, and tried 6-8 sticks (in pairs and singles, in both slots). I did not get any beeps, just fans spinning and no video.

Any ideas? Is the ram only for dell/hp systems that use pc2-3200?

Could be. What brand are they? If you pulled them from Dell/HP systems, there's a good chance it's probably Kingston RAM, which will not work with anything other than the specific motherboards they're branded for.

Well they vary in brand, mostly samsung, something with an "M", and something with an "I" (just has an M or I on it, no name that I can see).

Where did you get them? Where they pulled from older machines? Chances are they're sticks of branded RAM that will only work with the certain memory controller on the boards they're designed for.

Dang alright. I don't know where they were pulled from, just got a box of it. Thanks for the help!
