Did you open the proper ports in your firewall for CS? I think that you must have ports 27015 and 27016 open to play CS.

thanks rogue.
i havent opened ports- i dont know which ones. (i should make that clear whare i said "drill holes"

i think that there are more ports than just those. i remember seeing 27005 on 1 of the games but that was when i was hosting on my LAN so it doesnt matter.

Go to the SMC router setup page (http://192.168.123.254) and login. Click on "Misc." on the left and put in your computer's IP after DMZ Host and check the enable box. Click "Save" and try to play...

thanks wizkid, that worked.

once i am done playing should i disable me being dmz?
maybe it would be a good idea to get static ip's for the 2 computers on my network...

thanks again

coopa, definitly disable dmz when you're done playing!! DMZ = DeMilitarizedZone a.k.a. OUTSIDE YOUR FIREWALL! Please check your shares too if you're sharing files on your LAN, make sure you don't share any drives, only folders. Disable filesharing completely if you don't use it. Oh and maybe you should get yourself a software firewall for those times when you're gaming. ZoneAlarm and BlackIce Defender are the two most popular ones I think. Look into that and keep security in mind at all times ;)

Good luck

I'll second the firewall idea. I have the Norton software firewall installed (free from Earthlink w/my DSL:D) and it seems I catch a trojan attempt every other day while I'm gaming online. Doesn't slow your down/up speed either (I checked).

DMZ is a pretty half ass solution. Just go into your Barricade's denial log after trying to connect to a server, see what ports are getting the denied packets, then forward those ports to your [internal] IP. Much less of a headache in the long run. There is also no point in having redundant firewalls.
