okay so i reformatted my OS back from Vista to XP because Vista is plain retarded..anyways i put like 140 gigs of music/videos onto my external seagate hard drive. While i was installing SP2, which was taking a while, i dragged some stuff from the external hard drive onto my computer, but there was an error and sp2 didn't finish installing so i restarted and tried agian and it worked. However, when i tried to access the external hard drive to get my files onto the new xp, an error message comes up and says F:\ is not accessible. "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." can anyone please help me please please please i have a lot of important stuff on that external hard drive and i have to get into it.

is there anyway i can get back information without paying over 100$ for it? and i already installed SP2 and that works..just can't go in my external harddrive

Try Knoppix. Download and burn the ISO, then boot from CD. With some luck it should let you move files off the drive as long as it isn't physically damaged.
