Hey all,

I just finished a new build and finally have everything up and running:

i7 920 - running stock, no OC
Noctua NH-U12P SE2
ASUS P6T Deluxe
Intel X25-M 80GB SSD
WD 640GB Black
Corsair 850TX
COOLER MASTER HAF 932
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
7800 gtx - temporary while waiting for 5870 to arrive

What I'm having a problem with are the temperatures. With the stock cooling I'm sitting at about 30c, with the Noctua I'm at about 43c. I ran Prime for about 15 seconds before stopping it as I saw it was already at 96c.

I've taken it apart and reapplied paste but have the same results. Any idea's?

Given the FACT that the Noctua upped idle temps by 13 C over stock, tells you its a piss poor choice. Go back to stock cooling for now.

Meanwhile bitch at Noctua, maybe your unit is defective or fails to make proper CPU contact. Could be a mounting problem also.

I thought that it might have been an issue with it not making contact but I'm positive it's mounted correctly.

I'm surely disappointed and will go back to stock for now.

it sounds like you did not reapply the thermal compund correctly. Watch some videos online and read up about that. Also do not use any compunds that come with coolers unless it is a real brand- like artic silver. Also make sure that it is on TIGHT it shouldn't be able to move w/o moving the mobo at all.
