I have a network at my house and my router and modem are in the living room, I have a cable just going to my room, but the problem is i have to set my network card to 10 HALF mode. does anyone know why? is the cat 5 done wrong or something??

Did you buy the cable or create it?

If the cable is not properly constructed, it'll never perform at maximum efficiency.

create the cable. well my friend bought like 200 ft at sometime and he just cut me some, then i bought the crimper and made the 2 ends myself. i think i went by some picture and followed the color, but im not sure if i did it correctly or not. i'm guessing i did since it works and i can connect, but in the network setting only at 10HALF. could it be a setting in the router or something else?

search for 568b wiring. That will tell you the pinouts for the cable. Also its a good idea to use jacks for the cable run and punch them down that way.
