Help with connecting digital camcorder to D-link firewire card

I have a Canon Optura Pi that I'm trying to connect to my P4 system with no luck. The firewire adapter is a D-Link DFW-500. I'm using Windows 2000 and it installed the card with the TI OHCI compliant driver's.

U-lead shows the MS and the TI driver's but when I try to select a device it comes up and tells me that there is no device found. I'm confused, please help. The camcorder also shows dv in on the lcd.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Now my computer is constantly detecting the camcorder. It's like I'm pulling the firewire cable in and out. I don't know if it's the camcorder, the firewire cable or the firewire card. I don't have two of either. Maybe I should send the camera back and try another?
