Help with computer on TV

I reckon this has to have happened once or twice, suince this is how you connect a HTPC. With my computer connect to my TV via DVI, there's a good number pixels along the outside edge I can't see. For instance, the start menu, the leftmost colum of desktop icons, the top menubar when a window is maximized, etc. It's all hidden. The screen won't scroll over, it's simply not visable at all. Any thoughts?
