I have two questions. I'm looking in my local Fry's ad today and I see an IBM 40GB 7200rpm hard drive for $65. Now I don't know the whole story, but I remember reading about IBM hard drives dying a lot. So my first question is, should I try to go grab this hard drive or would it just suck and die on me?
I also see in the Fry's ad that they have an XP1800+ with an ECS K7S5A mobo for $119. I've been thinking about trying to build an extra system to learn Linux on and maybe set up a server. But I need a system that's going to be as inexpensive as possible yet be able to run current software/games for as long as possible. Considering that, my second question is is this CPU/Mobo combo a decent choice for a system that I can spend about $600 on?
Thanks
