I cannot get it to start. I know it is not necessary, but I need it in order to have AA+HDR in Oblivion. The damn app just won't start! I dunno what to do, and I really want some Oblivion goodness. This is with an X1900XT btw. I've tried just opening CLI.exe yet nothing opens. WTF?! I am getting thoroughly pissed. I had a "zero display service error" during every installation of every driver I've tried. I'm sure that's it, but what do I do?

Update: Problem solved

Well I'm on a wireless connection that takes a few seconds to connect when I boot up but the program won't start no matter how I try opening it even after I'm connected..

Did you uninstall your old drivers before you installed the "chuck" patch ? If so, un-install the patch, then re-install 6.3 or 6.4 catalyst complete. Re-apply the patch on top of that, saying "Yes" to overwrite any files. CCC should be working again after that.

Edit, Also you need to have .net installed for CCC to work.

I uninstalled my old drivers. Rebooted. Driver Cleaner Pro'd. Rebooted. Installed Chuck. I thought Chuck was a 6.3 driver itself. Do I need to repeat the process except install Cat 6.3 or 4 and then overwrite them with Chuck? I don't think that would explain why I cannot open CCC though..

BTW, yes I have .net.

Had the same problem, but with a Radeon 8500. CCC would not run regardless of how I laucnhed it (Desktop shortcut, Display Properties, etc.). Thought maybe it was because I had an older ATI card. However, after launching CCC (CLI.exe) fom the installation directory (Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\), I'm now able to launch CCC via right click menu, Desktop shortcut, or Display Properties.

If I can't get CCC to run, do you think turning on AA in ATI Tool or ATI Tray Tools instead of CCC would work to let me do AA+HDR in Oblivion?

Since, it's not entirely clear what you have or have not done, here are the steps:

-make sure you install .net 1.1
-Install Cat 6.3 and CCC (6.4 apparently works with Chuck, but I have not tried myself yet)
-Install Chuch patch (it is not a driver itself, just a hotfix for the 6.3's)

If you've done all that, and it still doesn't work you have a problem somewhere.

Yeah, I've done that. I'll try again before I give in.

I'm using ATT right now, and I dont even have CCC installed. Just enable AA from ATT (you can even make a profile to swithch on AA automatically), and you're all set.

*edit: but if you plan to use ATT, be sure to disable the overclocking options when installing it, since it does not support OC'ing the x1k cards.

Yeah, I downloaded ATI Tool and tried it and it worked! Oblivion looks incredible with 6xAA and HDR!

Apparently its not. I did exactly what you did, and had exactly the same problem. CCC would not open until I reinstalled 6.3 *6.4 also works* then re-applied the patch.

Well I think that the Chuck Patch is an actual driver and does fine without a previous 6.3/6.4 install. The past 20 minutes of Oblivion AA+HDR goodness sure leads me to believe this :D. I just had to use ATI Tool to turn on AA because my computer will not run CCC for some godforsaken reason.

Oh, I have no doubt it does. But if you want to get CCC working again thats what you need to do, so apparently something is missing no?

I use CCC to OC, so it was a bit more important for me to get it running. As long as you have your AA going I guess it dosnt really matter.

Firstly, make sure, you are updated in terms of windows xp, sp2, directx, and everything,

Secondly, did you follow the exact instructions as mentioned in the driver cleaner where you have to go through the safe mode and stuff, if you did, i would recommend you to uninstall display drivers again and chuck patch again, and then start installing the 6.4 drivers, and then check the ccc if it works and only then install the chuck patch.
dont install the chuck patch untill u are sure ccc works cause the patch is no good w/o ccc.

also i am sure there are other programs like ati tray tools that lets you set the preset anti aliasing options (search for it or ask in forums here)

if that doesn not work either, try installing a older version of CCC.

if nothing works,t hen you mite have to do a clean install (a bit hard to do sometimes but worth it .)
