Help with car title

I bought a car off of E-bay and the title is messed up. Need to get a duplicate from the owner on the title. It was signed and went through several different people without being transferred. I believe I know where he is currently living but it is in Colorado. I live in Iowa so it is too far to drive. Is there a free or reasonably cheap way to get his address? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you are unable to contact the owner, proceed with an abandoned vehicle title search. That way the DMV does it for you, the drawback is that it takes at least 6 weeks as the owner has thirty days to respond.

Title is from Missouri and he now lives in Colorado. Post office won't forward mail because it has been too long. From what I hear Iowa isn't real easy to get an abandoned title.

There is such a thing as phone books and/or the internet to locate a person by address/phone number.

If you know the general area, there may even be an ATOT persona that can open up a phone book for you.

haha, sounds like someone bought it, had previous owners sign the transfer side, and then the vehicle + title changed hands a few times?
