I got an email from a buddy that stated the following.

"this will speed up your cable modem:
First, u need to goto Start, then run. Type in regedit in the box. Next, goto the
folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\services\VxD\MSTCP
Now, find the string DefaultRcvWindow . Now, edit the number to 64240 then
restart your computer. There you go. High speed cable modem now with out dloading a program."

he's not the most trustworthy buddy, so i thought that i would check it out with my fellow anandtechers.

thanks for any help

It will not hurt your computer, if that is what you are asking.

I'm running a program called Dr. Speed. I just checked my Reg. and it looks like Dr. Speed made the same changes to my Reg. that your friend suggested.

Seems to work just fine as far as I can tell.
