I think any would do just as well as another... MP3 players won't skip. No moving parts.

i like my Nomad 2 from emusic promotion. you can strap it on pretty easy, also includes a little thing that lets you adjust the volume or next song without actually touching the mp3 player.

I like the Nomad also. I like to consider myself an MP3 player conneiseur. I've owned a Rio, a RaveMP, a Nomad II, a HipZip, and a Pine PalM-P3. Here's what I've found:

The Rio was nice, but I sold it because I never used it.
The RaveMP wasn't as nice, so I sold it because I never used it.
The Nomad II was the nicest of all, but I sold it because I never used it.

So then I started running again, so I bought the HipZip. It weighed too much on my shorts and it felt like it was going to fall off. I didn't want to drop a $250 player on the ground. So I sold it and bought the PalM-P3 for cheap....REAL cheap ($50...but they retail for $100, I just got a good deal from a friend). This thing is so cheaply made its sickening, but for the little amount of money I paid for it, I don't care if it falls and breaks. Plus the belt clip is alot sturdier, and it weighs absolutely nothing, so I doubt it will fall. It takes MMC cards, which I already have several of, so that's a plus...but I really don't need hours and hours of music for my 4x a week runs (about an hour every other day). The sound quality, strangely enough, is the best out of all of the players I've owned, and it came with some OK headphones.

Basically, what I'm saying is if you think you might drop it, or sweat all over it, don't buy the latest and greatest! Head over to the FS/T forums and pick up someone's used Rio or Nomad for under $100. But then again, not everyone is a klutz like me, so maybe you'd be better suited for a nice player.

You just don't want to buy a CD/MP3 player for jogging (this may be obvious but I figured I'd just point it out). Most of those tend to skip too much. . . .

and a cd player IMO is too bulky to carry around while jogging.. at least for me i hated it (for the short time i kept it up :)).

I like sony's small stick MP3 players actually.. altho a bit high in price sometimes. small, easy to carry, and shockproof. the downside is it may be easier to misplace since it's small.

64MB if your money can handles it, and make sure it's expandable for future. That's the one thing i don't like about the sony, it uses it's own memory sticks, not something standard like Smartmedia or Compactflash (the latter seems to be had for quite a nice price of aroudn $60 for 64MB).
