Help with burning dvd

I am trying to transfer some old videos from my super 8 video camera to dvd's. I have the videos on my hard drive in mpg format. I have a Sony DRU-720A burner, and I just updated the firmware yesterday.

I can't seem to burn them in a format that will be recognized in a tv top dvd player. I have tried several times using Nero and Roxio software. What is the correct way to do this?

Thanks!

Yes, it does, I am burning to the DVD Rom format, but the playback speed is not right. It plays in super slow motion.

odd which version of nero? your version reencoded/transcoded it into mpeg 2 right? older versions of nero couldn't reencode
