Help with botched formatting

Please help me. So here's the deal: I had Vista then I tried installing my XP to dual boot so I could play games on XP and make Vista my main os.

I made a partition for XP and then installed XP on my E partition, which was the new one. Then, I turned the comp off halfway ad then when I went in to boot, it would only boot to the failed XP installation. When I went to the "OS CHoices Menu" I only saw the WinXP botched os. Where did my Vista drive go?! I thought I installed XP in the new drive.

So, if I install a new os, how can I recover the stuff that was on my old drive? I had lots of cool and important things and I really need them back.

Edit: Also I'm on my other comp. If anybody could help I would REALLY appreciate it. 🙁

Use the vista install cd... Click repair. Go to the command prompt. Then type in "bootrec.exe /fixmbr". Your XP installation overwrote Vista's boot loader.
