Help with BOINC

I recently installed BOINC as SETI classic is shutting down. I started with one computer and I now have 6 units in the transfer list waiting to upload. This has been for a couple of days now. Everytime I retry to upload the progress percentage goes to a small number and then it stays there till the status changes to Retry in .......

Also I have a few computers which are still running Seti classic. How can I install BOINC and run SETI on them without the users being bothered by BOINC - can I control them from one computer?

Any help appreciated. Thanks

Seti@Home - BOINC is experiencing data-upload problems since yesterday (and - in my experience - the day before yesterday.
This is (according to the home page - due to the heavy demand on the server, and this indicates (IMHO) the migration of many thousands of users to BOINC.
What ever you do, do not delete or abort the WUs or results and do not reset the project!
The WUs will be uploaded eventually (it may take a week or two) but then you will get a big amount of credits. 😀
Since the down loading of WUs for crunching works OK your comp will not be idle ... 🙂

I have been unable to upload seti@boinc results for 6 days now, and have only managed to download 4 wu's in the past few days. My que has 38 results waiting to upload.

This is becoming increasingly frustrating.

I think I may try folding.

MrPickins, I agree fully. Why don't you join the TAS-mini team in the Holiday Season Race? You just tell me that you are in and then relax and enjoy ... 🙂.
Look at this thread it may be fun! 😀

One of the best "ideas" about BOINC is you can attach several different projects assigning your percentage preference to each. When one is down due to server problems or lack of new work the other project(s) automatically pick up the slack. 🙂

Rosetta@Home is a folding project that uses the BOINC DC Engine. I suggest you give that a try during this busy SETI transition.

Leave it and wait a while, if you're that interested in the project, it always seems to right itself, set your favourite project in your Boinc prefs to max and then if it dies (which all projects do from time to time, Boinc or otherwise) it will eventually come back on line 😀
BOINC seems to be a good way of running multiple DC projects

I would rather devote all my resources to SETI or else I could reduce my utility bill!!

Can anyone point me to a guide how to control BOINC on other computers?

You are saying that you are able to download work... I have been trying to download for 2 weeks plus, and I cannot get any work from Seti. Rosetta is working but not Seti.

Very frustrating....

To control boinc clients over a network like you're infront of the other pc and monitor multiple clients over a network, I use BoincView http://boincview.amanheis.de/

It works like a charm! 😀

Oh and all my crunchers gets setup with 2 boinc projects always.. it's just much safer.
