Any time I use bittorrent clients after a little bit my desktop locks up and my computer freezes!
I've used numerous clients also?

Anyone else getting these problems?
I've been using bit for quite some time now and it worked flawless on my old system.

Now that I've built this one i get this problem.

Specs:

FX-55
MSI NEO2 Plat
1024 OCZ REV2
WD Raptor 74gig
BFG 6800GT OC
and so on...

All drivers and everything up to date, SP2 all updated.

I dont know what else to do!?

Well, im using the one on my motherboard, and the drivers are the latest?
I thought this also..

I'm running no router, and I've even disabled zonealarm and it still froze up.

Running Antivirus by chance? Almost every program that does a full HDD scan will freeze the computer if BitTorrent has an active torrent running.

If you have a PCI NIC laying around, drop it in there and see if there is any improvement.

If that happens you've either got a really crappy AntiVirus or other problems, doing a scan while a torrent is coming in shouldn't cause any problems.

Lower your upload & download limits. They might be set to unlimited.

Do you have the nvidia firewall enabled?

You mentioned SP2...have you disabled the windows firewall?

Does your pc get progressively slower prior to the lockup, or is it sudden? Take a look at task manager after bittorrent has been running for a while and see if there are any processes using a lot of cpu or memory.

Have you tried using both of the LAN jacks on your MB?

Which BT client are you using?

All firewalls disabled beside zonealarm (which i also shut down)

it seems sudden..going along fine and then just freezes.

Tried both jacks on my board same thing.

Using bittornado, azeureus and now currently abc which has been the best so far (fingers crossed)

Currently, Norton 2005 is the definition of "crappy Antivirus program". Try to notice if the lockup happens sometime around your scheduled daily virus scan.

Incidentally, AVG doesn't seem to have any such problems for me. It's all a matter of the software having updated support for BitTorrent.
