Help with bios upgrade/boot disk for Dragon +

Ok. My new Dragon Plus mobo should be here tomorrow, along with the rest of my components. This is my first computer that I will build and I had a question. When updating the bios, it says "1. Prepare an empty bootable disk. In order to do this, format a disk using the format a: /s command (use b: or other drive letter if appropriate). Make sure that there is nothing on the disk except for boot files. How and where do I do this? and do I need to do this before I turn the pc on for the first time?

To make a bootable floppy it depends on what OS you're using. If you are using WinXP just put a floppy in right click on A: in my computer, select format, then in the format menu select create startup disk. Then copy the files that you are gonna use to flash the bios onto that disk. This will let you boot into dos mode to flash the bios. You don't need to flash the bios on the first boot. I would highly suggest not flashing on the first boot because you need to make sure everything works first before you start risking messing it up.

On your first boot go to BIOS and set or check the basic settings. If you do not have a 3pin fan connector from the heatsink connected to the CPUFan1 then hold down the insert key when you first boot. Set the FOC to Disable. How to create a boot disk will depend on which OS. Win98 type a: /s from a command prompt. XP as mentioned already.

After that Flash the BIOS before you load the OS. If setting up a raid copy all the promise raid drivers from the SOYO website(newer than disk) to a floppy including the directories to a floppy.

Just set this board up Sunday with all the onboard used. Great board.
